It feels weird to say that I loved cartoons as a kid, because in my head it just seems like an obvious statement to make: kids love cartoons. But I suppose that speaks volumes about the power of animation. My roots started with classic Disney, Warner Bros, and MGM animation, which transitioned into the 80s explosion of limited animation, to the afternoon lineup after school. Now as an adult, I clearly understand what inspired me to be an artist. It was the happiness I felt, cherished, and retained from all those of years of watching cartoons. I never wanted to change the face of art as an avant garde or to express my angst as a tortured painter. I wanted people to smile. I love the simplicity of animation, and how it can touch a chord in any human being, regardless of age. I love the nuances and subtleties of well-done animation, as well as the illusion created by limited animation. My reel is a combination of both. Storytelling is an art I hold close to my heart, and I hope my reel refects this.
