Portfolio » Sketches & Concept Art
One time at the Art Academy, I found a sketchbook some student had lost. I debated about whether or not I should peruse through it, as I felt that I was invading personal space. But a brash student, fresh out of high school, asserting my independence I flipped it open. What I found floored me. Brilliant pieces of work bound to the pages of a cheap $8.00 sketchbook. Notes upon notes of writing, which culminated in an expletive and a statement angrily written: WHY CAN'T I DRAW. Years down the line, I felt bad about opening it. Yet, I felt blessed to be privy to how a sketchbook should be managed. Not just as the breeding ground for bigger projects, but as a place to commit your inspirations and troubles. Free of the demands and expectations placed on you by the real world.
