The first time I walked into a classroom to draw a nude figure, part of me felt like I was about to witness something illegal. Part of me concentrated on being overly mature, with a "been there, done that" air. In reality, I spent 3 hours of my life working through an inch of my pencil creating drawings I never looked at again. Although brief, that moment is the best representation of what figure drawing means to me. Figure drawing is encapsulated in a moment. Appreciating human form and studying its intricacies. Moments you're not meant dwell on and reabsorb ad nauseum but to learn from and take to the next. I enjoy the nature of it, quickly placing on paper what passses through my eyes. Finding a moment of motion held still.
