There are so many things you can potentially be good at, why explore just one? This statement could go three ways. One, you become "a jack of all trades, master of none." Two you do the opposite and become a major player in your selected field. Three, being my case, you find other avenues to express yourself artistically and discover new techniques to apply to your specialized field. I believe an artist should never be married to one craft, because you can learn from doing other things. In art, polygamy is a plus.
